Group Financial Controller - French speaker

We are partnering with a well-established international group to appoint a Group Financial Controller overseeing a portfolio of entities across Africa.

Based in Dubai and reporting to the Group Finance Director, this role plays a critical part in safeguarding financial integrity across multiple countries and entities.

The position requires close interaction with senior leadership, local finance teams, and external stakeholders.

This is a highly operational and hands-on role, with significant exposure to complex, multi-country environments and regular on-the-ground presence across Africa (up to 50% travel).


Main Responsibilities:

  • Oversee financial reporting across multiple African entities, ensuring timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual closings
  • Ensure the integrity of financial statements, balance sheet reconciliations, and intercompany processes across the region
  • Enforce consistent application of group accounting policies and reporting standards (IFRS and local GAAPs)
  • Ensure compliance with local statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements across jurisdictions
  • Lead and coordinate internal and external audits, acting as the key point of contact for auditors
  • Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and working capital performance across entities
  • Partner with operational and commercial teams on financial aspects of contracts, pricing, and risk management
  • Drive continuous improvements in finance processes, systems, and internal controls
  • Lead, coach, and develop regional finance teams, fostering a strong culture of accountability and governance


Profile:

  • A relevant experience in financial controlling within a multi-country environment
  • Experience working across Africa and/or within emerging markets environments
  • Solid knowledge of IFRS and exposure to multiple local GAAPs (e.g. OHADA is a strong plus)
  • French speakers are prioritised, with limited flexibility based on the recruiter’s assessment of the overall profile.
  • Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
  • Professional certification (CPA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) preferred
  • Ability and willingness to travel (approx. 50%)
